We just wrapped up the third annual BFC 123 Contest Series, a set of skateboard contests at various locations in the Seattle area. The summer of 2008 was off-the-hook insane. Skateboarding was pushed up a giant notch this year as competitors descended on the parks to compete and redefine the sport. At the seventh and final contest at the Shoreline skatepark, a single overall winner was chosen and awarded as
the 2008 Ally Video.com Ramp Champ, and that was Jason Rodriguez without a doubt. Our past winners of the series were Dan Ching in 2006 and Caleb Cole in 2007. Check out the recaps of the past series... 2006 series or 2007 series.

Judges eyeballed some of the most amazing things yet to occur in Seattle this year. Before the final contest at Shoreline, Jason was clearly in the lead with two 1st places and some side contest prizes under his belt. So to amp up the tension to the story, at a prior event he almost broke his ankle and had to visit the emergency room before the final contest arrived. Jason showed up to the finale, skated well, slam dunked a best trick down the rail and closed the deal.
1st at Sammamish
1st at Mercer Island
Best Trick at Mercer Island (hardflip backtail to fakie down the hubba)
Runner Up For Ledge Skate at Mercer Island
Best Trick at Shoreline (front board to backside flip out down the rail)
Plus solid skating at the Sprinker contest
Jason is one of those guys whose skating is hard to predict... what is he going to try... a 360 flip body vareal, a manual to blunt on a quarterpipe to frontside flip out, a front board to backside flip down a rail? From what we can tell, it's hard to put a label on his tricks. He thinks up variations that blow the mind... and someone forgot to tell him that those tricks are supposed to be impossible. And that's exactly what made him stand out this year.
